I'm back...

It's been a while  ... between a week in Florida and getting back to the news of my daughter being hit by a car on Wednesday night and hospitalized and me turning around and making the trip to PA, well, it's just been a little hectic ...

The good news is that she is out of surgery and home recovering.  She was hit, flipped up and shattered the windshield and in the process completely severed her humerous bone.  She is now my bionic daughter complete with a metal plate and pins.  While in a lot of pain and on constant pain meds, I'm thrilled this was the extent of her injuries (other than some good black and blue marks).  I have to say that being 7-8 hours away and not being able to see her was very difficult for me.  My drive back to PA yesterday flew by knowing that I would be able to see her soon.

Okay so on with a new card for you ...  this, too, is one of my swaps for Leadership next week.  I can't wait.  My first Leadership Conference ... and in San Antonio ... wahooooo!

Button Buddies stamp set was used here.  Marina mist, whisper white and crumb cake were the cardstocks.  Also used was the lattice embossing folder.  I made this card from a sample I saw at Retreat.  There I showed several gals how to make the faux button ... doesn't it look real.

To make faux buttons, simply punch out five circles.  Then with a slightly smaller circle punch, punch out two smaller circles from the same scrap paper.  With the paper remaining on the scrap paper, go back to where the two smaller holes were punched and punch over that area with the larger punch to create a punched out "donut" shape.

Now just attach the five large whole circles together, put the two donut holes on top with adhesive and then using a hole punch, punch out two button holes.  Put a little Crystal Effects on top, let dry, and you will have your faux button.

Hope you enjoyed today's blog.  I'll try to get back for another soon... Don't forget Stamp Retreat March 15-18, 2012.  Email me for complete information.
